The connection to a Virtual Private Network (VPN) will be determined by the device and operating system that you are using it on. That may be Windows, MAC OS, Linux, Unix, Android, or iOS.

Windows 7 Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection:

  1. Click on the Start button in the toolbar.
  2. Find the Network and Sharing Centre.
  3. Set up a new connection or network under the heading Change your network settings.
  4. Select Connect to a workplace from the new dialog box and click Next.
  5. Select Use my Internet connection.
  6. Enter the VPN details in the Internet address field.
  7. Type a name for the VPN connection in the Destination name. Click Next.
  8. Save the connection so that it is in your list of connections.

 

Windows 8/10 Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection:

  1. Click on the Start button in the toolbar.
  2. Type Network and Sharing Center in the Search field and press Enter.
  3. Set up a new connection or network under the heading Change your network settings.
  4. Select Connect to a workplace and click Next.
  5. Select Use my Internet connection (VPN).
  6. Enter the VPN details in the Internet address field.
  7. Type a name for the VPN connection in the Destination name. Click Next.
  8. Tick Remember my credentials.
  9. Click Create.

Linux

The NetworkManager-pptp package (network-manager-pptp and network-manager-pptp-gnome on Ubuntu/Debian) needs to be installed on your machine.

  1. Click on the Network Manager icon.
  2. Select VPN Connections and then Configure VPN.
  3. Choose Add from the Network Connections dialog box.
  4. Choose Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) option from the Choose a VPN Connection Type dialog box and click Create...
  5. Enter a name for the VPN Connection in the name field.
  6. Enter the VPN connection in the Gateway field of the VPN tab.
  7. Click the Advanced button.
  8. Enter the Authentication Methods and Security and Compression that the VPN requires.
  9. Click OK then Apply to save your settings.

 

Android 

  1. Go to Settings on your device.
  2. Select Wireless & networks.
  3. Select VPN settings.
  4. Select Add VPN.
  5. Select Add PPTP VPN.
  6. Enter the VPN name and click OK.
  7. Set the VPN server to the VPN name and click OK.

 

Apple iOS & Mac OS

Apple is no longer supporting PPTP and requires third party apps to connect.
